2015

We're blogging again!

Unfortunately this year we have been slightly behind with our blog, our last post was almost exactly a year ago to be precise. But that is all changing, now we will be bringing you consistent reports of how things are going at Hele Valley Holiday Park and what we are all up to.

What a fantastic year it has been so far. Despite the often rather wet weather, it's amazing to see thousands of new happy faces (along with many familiar, just as happy faces) holidaying at Hele Valley in the stunning North Devon.

Here’s a quick insight into what we have been up to recently.

Devon’s Holiday Park and Holiday Village Award Winner

We were pleasantly surprised to be contacted by the Devon Tourism Awards in October announcing we were short-listed for another award, this time in the Holiday Park and Holiday Villages category for larger Holiday Parks.

The 6th annual Devon Tourism Awards took place on Thursday 26th November, at Plymouth’s Holiday Inn on the Hoe. The glittering award ceremony was hosted by Judi Spiers with guest speaker Peter Gorton.

The awards celebrated the breadth of Devon's tourism offer as a county, and showed the strength of the award’s finalists and winners.

We fought tough competition from a record number of 174 award entries to amazingly win a bronze in the prestigious award.

We are now officially the bronze medalist Holiday Park and Holiday Village of the year in the County.

The Doveys with our newly won award

The Chairman of the Awards Panel, David Fursdon, says:
“The Devon Tourism Awards have shown once again that this County has a wonderful group of hardworking and imaginative entrepreneurs whose tourism businesses are a credit to them; a source of pride to those of us who live here and act as a powerful magnet to those who visit.”

Visit Devon Chairman, Victoria Hatfield, comments:
“It is an inspiration to see the year-on-year investment in quality that keeps Devon at the forefront of tourism. This year’s list of Finalists is longer than ever and I offer my congratulations to them all”

Paul Hardingham, Commercial Director of Headline Sponsors Hoseasons, says:
“Devon represents everything that is exceptional about the Great British break - that’s why we are delighted to be supporting these awards once again. We help bring thousands of people to the area every year, but it’s the passion and dedication of the businesses we work with that keeps them coming back for more. Well done to the winners and all the best for another fantastic year in 2016!”

We have also managed to retain our David Bellamy Conservation Award with a Gold Award for another year.

End of season party

Every year we hold an end of season party for our owners, staff and of course any guests that like fancy dress, dancing and playing silly games until late night. Oh, and who could forget, winning a whole lot of prizes!

The annual party is held in a marquee on our top camping field. Special thanks to Ali and Mr C who are experts at putting it up and decorating it for the occasion. Samantha and Monique did a great job organising a schedule for the night. The food was delicious and the firework show was amazing.

As usual our end of season party went off with a bang. This year's party was themed Scary Christmas and held on Friday the 30th October. Santa Claus even paid us a visit and used one of our camping pods for his Grotto! We all had a fabulous time. Every year they just seem to get better and better, it is so lovely for us to see so many of our owners and guests enjoying themselves.

We're looking forward to next year's already!

We were delighted to announce the safe arrival of baby Edward on 19th October. Congratulations to Steve Dovey and his partner Jo - who certainly make awesome parents.
